Aftercare

You need to clean your piercing twice a day, morning and night to make sure it's kept clean during the healing period. Do not clean any more than twice or you can slow the healing process.

When cleaning your piercing it is important to wash your hands before touching it so you don't spread any dirt from your fingers to your fresh piercing.

You need to make up a cleaning solution from 1/4 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of warm water, mixing so the salt dissolves. You could also use saline solution purchased from somewhere like Boots or Superdrug.

Using a cotton wool bud, Soak the end in the solution before cleaning both sides of the piercing thoroughly, making sure you remove any gunky bits that have formed around the ends of the jewellery.

If you have the room, move the jewellery back and forward after applying solution as this can draw the water into the piercing hole and help with healing.

Always tighten up the balls on the end of the jewellery when you clean it to make sure they are tight enough and not likely to fall off.

Do not remove the jewellery before the piercing has fully healed, this can take up to 3 months for most piercings.
